Frank was born in 1860, the son of Austin and Catherine Eveline (Dunlap) Aten, in Peoria, Illinois. The family would relocate to Texas when he was a boy. His father was a Methodist Minister and owned a farm that Frank and his siblings grew up working on.
In 1886 Frank married Josephine Jakes McCormick in Austin, Texas. Josie as she was called was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth "Bettie" (Ayers) McCormick.
Six children were born to this marriage:
Viola (Aten) Webb (1888-1980)
Ivan Forrest Aten (1892-1978)
Lois (Aten) Lyons (1896-1974)
Wilson Cunningham Aten (1899-1991)
Clarence Bill Aten (1901-1968)
Oren McCormick Aten (1904-1985)
Frank would farm and then in 1922 he was appointed the Postmaster of the Round Rock, Williamson County, Texas Post Office.
Frank lived to be 99 years old, passing away in 1960. His body and Josie's are buried together in the Round Rock Cemetery in Round Rock, Williamson County, Texas.
