Biography

Bernard was born in 1780. He was the son of Sherwood Avery and Rachel Unknown.

Marriage

28th July, 1811: married Barney Avery of Darlington to Jenny Smith of Whitby being duly published. Present: Jacob DeHart and John Smith. ^[1]

Note: Jacob DeHart and Jane (McGahen) DeHart lived on Lot 8 Con 3 in Pickering. I have not been able to connect Jacob to the Avery family.

Research

I have not been able to locate Bernard on the 1810 Leeds & Lansdowne (Rear) Twp, Leeds census.

He later appears in Pickering Township in 1846. Lot: 15 Con. 9

I have not been able to locate Bernard in the 1851 census. Averys' who appear in Pickering in 1851 include: Anthony Avery & his family (Sarah, Alonzo, Joshua, Stephen, Alexander, and Joseph) Ebenezer (Bernard's brother) & Jane are also listed on the census.
