Elizabeth Bacon was born about 1750, in Henrico County, Virginia. Her parents were John Langston Bacon (1724–1755) and Sarah Miller (1730–1752). Elizabeth 1st married Benjamin M. Mosby (1749–1769) about 1767, in Henrico County, Virginia. She 2nd married John Cornett (1724–1776), about 1771, in Henrico County, Virginia. Elizabeth Cornett passed away about 1801 in Grayson County, Virginia.
NOTES by Dann M. Norton: The birth year of Elizabeth Bacon can be determined from the guardianship records. Virginia laws required all males and females to be considered minors until age 21. If the guardian was appointed by the court, then the orphan was under 14, but if the orphan "chose" a guardian, he or she was over 14, but less than 21. Page 59 of Edward Pleasants Valentine papers shows that Edmund Bacon was appointed guardian of Lyddall, Elizabeth, William, and Sarah, orphans of Langston Bacon on Feb, 1759. That means all those children were under 14, birth range of 1745-1759. And since Langston died in 1755, based on probate records, we can narrow down the range even more--1745-1755. On the same page, Harwood Bacon "chooses" William Millar as guardian, so he was OVER 14. Page 55, shows a record dated Oct 1, 1764, where Elizabeth chose Allen Williamson as her guardian. This means, by law, she was over 14, but under 21. This is the first record where she chose a guardian, which may indicate she had turned 14 on that day or shortly before. Her birth was in 1750. One more record, on page 67, mentions the court calling Allen Williamson to make an account of Elizabeth's estate, still calling her Elizabeth Bacon, orphan of Langston, dated Aug 1769. (Same was written for sister, Sarah, and guardian James Ryall.) This seems to indicate Elizabeth was not yet married, since she was not called Elizabeth Mosby, but it must be acknowledged that if she didn’t marry until after August 1769, she bore her three children very quickly in order for the last one to be born in 1771.
Elizabeth (Bacon) Mosby Cornett died not died in 1801 in Grayson County, Virginia. She was alive in 1816 in Henrico County, Virginia, when she sued for the division of land so she could receive her dower land from John Cornett's estate.
