He was born 2 Oct 1681 in Newbury, Massachusetts Colony before his parents moved the family to Stonington, Connecticut Colony, where his siblings, Joseph and Mary, were baptized.[1]
There he married Mercy Saxton, daughter of Capt. Joseph and Hannah (Dennison) Saxton of Boston.[2]
He was admitted to the church at Stonington, Conn., July 11, 1703; dismissed to the church of Lebanon, Conn., June 9, 1707.
He died August 23, 1711, at Lebanon. His widow married William Dewey. [later hand has written in the book b. Jan 1692, son of Josiah 2nd, b Dec 24,1666.]
Odd: Barbour collection, Lebanon, p 8, citing I:30: [Bailey], Isaac, [s. Isaac & Mercy], b. Feb. 14, 1707/8; d. Aug. 23, 1711. [Same death as father?]
The following inscription appears on his gravestone in Lebanon, Conn.:
"Here lies ye body of that most
Ingenious & worthy gentleman
Mr. Isaac Bayley - ye husband
of Mrs. Mercy Bayley - He was a
Member of ye University in
Cambridge in New England
& slept in Jesus - Aug. 23
A. Domini, 1711 in ye 30 year of his age."
