On findagrave:
Andrew was in the war of 1812, he served from April 1813-Sept. 29th 1813. He was a Pvt. in the Kentucky Militia, who were called to duty at FT. Meigs Ohio. Andrew was in the battle of Dudley's defeat, which took place May 5th 1813 at Ft. Meigs OH.(Source: pension file records on Fold3) He survived the war and returned home where he married Anna Kelly, in Lee Co. Va. later they moved to Harlan Co. KY. and raised 12 children. His last known place of residence was in Leonard near Clover Fork, Harlan Co. KY. near the Cumberland River. He died in Harlan Co.
His burial record (Shown right) (source: found on microfilm at the Kentucky State Archives in Frankfort, KY.) says he is buried in Bailey's cemetery near Cloversplint, which is now called Closplint, a story I found on line about the Cloversplint coal Coal Co. tells that in 1926 the Cloversplint Coal started a mining operation in this area and named the town Cloversplint , but when the postal service set up on office here in 1928 they thought that Cloversplint was a little to long, so they shortened it to Closplint.
I went to the area but could not find the cemetery) the record states he is buried near the center of the cemetery. Military info states that he died in Leonard, HARLAN COUNTY, KY.( Sources: WAR OF 1812 PENSION FILE, REGRISTATION OF VETERANS GRAVE APPLICATION AND SEVERAL DOCUMENTS AT FOLD3). There is a picture of a Bailey cemetery on Ancestry that someone put there that shows a Bailey cemetery in Laurel County, this is NOT the correct Cemetery. My guess is because his last name was Bailey he was probably buried on Bailey land some where in the area around Leonard HARLAN, COUNTY
Some new info found in 2016 suggest that this Bailey Cemetery is also called Wynn Town Loop, near Closplint Ky. Harlan Co. which is close to Leonard Ky. Now knowing that Cloversplint is now called Closplint, this seems to be the correct area for the Baileys Cemetery.
Andrew's wife Anna filed for and received his war pension until her death in 1896. (62 documents at Fold3 showing when she filed for Andrew's war pension including a family record sheet with all the children listed and their birth dates). Andrews parents were John Bailey (who served in the revolutionary war and proved by DAR he was a private not a Capt. as some suggest) and Sarah Mintor. And four of Andrew's sons John K. Bailey, Bennett Bailey, William Bailey and Mintor Bailey all served in the Civil War.
