Biography

Mary was baptised August 8, 1813 in Otterham, Cornwall. She was the "base daughter of Frances Baker, spinster".^[1]

She married widower John Geake on December 14, 1837 in Egloskerry, Cornwall: ^[2]

married Mary Baker spinster of full age, servant of Westdown End, daughter of Samuel Baker, labourer

John signed the parish register while Mary made her mark X

Witnesses Roger Rowe and Elizabeth Rowe.

She was actually the GRANDDAUGHTER of Samuel Baker but because she put down his name as her father, it would seem as though he and her grandmother Catherine Baker must have raised her -- it's even possible that she NEVER knew that the woman Frances Baker who she thought was her sister was ACTUALLY HER MOTHER!

Mary's daughter Mary died in 1876 and her husband Edward died the following year so she and unmarried daughter Jane raised their 3 young children: William, James and Elizabeth.

Mary died on April 7, 1896 in Churchtown in the parish of Saint Breward, Cornwall and was buried April 11th in Saint Breward Churchyard.^[3]
