Biography

Mary "Polly" Baker was born before 1781 if she was at least age 16 at the time of her marriage. She was a daughter of James Baker.

Mary Baker married Jeremiah Stone in 1796, at Henry County, Virginia.

On 13 January 1820, at Henry County, Mary's father, James Baker Sr., wrote his will. His heirs included his daughter Polly Stone, and his grandson Daniel Stone. He specified that Mary's husband, Jeremiah Stone, should receive one dollar, a sign that Jeremiah was not held in favor by James Baker (Henry County Will Book 2, pages 142-144). Lela C. Mary Baker Stone divorced Jeremiah after 9 December 1806 and (According to FIND A GRAVE: Mary Baker Pace) remarried to John Reamy Pace.
