The following obituary was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Advertiser, on 8 April 1943:[4]

The death occurred in Sydney recently of Mrs. Audine O'Leary, wife of the late Dr. A P. E. OTeary, formerly of Glenelg. Mrs. O'Leary had long been associated with welfare work for animals. In 1912 she was appointed honorary secretary to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and it was due chiefly to her efforts that Important amendments to the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act were passed in 1915. She was instrumental in having the first humane killers tried out at the Metropolitan Abattoirs; these she brought from England at her own expense. She left for England in 1918. and remained there until 1932. when she returned to South Australia. In 1921 she was made an honorary life member of the RSPCA in South Australia.
