According to the census, George and Mary had been married for 38 years when the census was taken, and Mary Jane had given birth to 8 children, only 5 of whom were still alive in 1900. The 1900 US census is the only one that provides both the birth month and year of each individual. The birth year for Mary is almost consistently calculated as 1842 on preceding census records, and this census, which was taken in June of 1900 gives "July 1842" as her birth year. This contradicts the birth year provided at Findagrave, which also IS the birth year inscribed on her tombstone shared with her husband.

Mary Jane Lackore can be found on the 1920 census for Hancock, Madison County, Iowa at the age of 77, seemingly living alone at that time.^[6]
