Biography

Annie was born at Mitchell's Flat, Singleton about 1859 the daughter of George Ballantyne and Mary Smith. Annie died at Sydney 1938 and in 1877 she married William GRIFFITH. She was buried at the Branxton cemetery aged 70 years.

1937 Feb 8 Argus: Mr. and Mrs. W. Griffiths, well known identities of Mitchell's Flat celebrated their diamond wedding on Saturday. Mrs. G. W. Gardner, of Dunolly, is a sister of Mr. Griffiths, and it will be two years in July since Mr. and Mrs. Gardner celebrated their own diamond, wedding.

1938 Mar 23 Singleton Argus: DEATH. GRIFFITH.—On March 22, in Sydney, Annie Griffith, Wife of William Griffith, of Mitchell's Flat; aged 79 years. 1938 Mar 23 Singleton Argus: DEATH OF MRS W. GRIFFITH. Mrs Annie Griffiths, aged 79 years, wife of Mr William Griffith, senr., of Mitchell's Flat, died in Sydney yesterday morning, where she had gone for treatment by a specialist. Deceased had been ailing for some years. She was born at Mitchell's Flat, and lived there all her life, winning and retaining the esteem and respect of a large circle of friends. She is survived by four sons and three daughters, viz., Mr George Griffith (Queensland), Mr William Griffith (Sergeant of Police at Murwillumbah), Mr James Griffith (Sergeant of- Police at Muswellbrook), Mr Robert H. Griffith (Mitchell's Flat), Mesdames J. P. Brunner (Glendon Brook), W. Brunner (Mitchell's Flat), and F. Bourke (Elderslie). The remains were brought to Mitchell's Flat, from whence the funeral took place this afternoon, the remains being interred in the Presbyterian cemetery at Branxton. Mr H. Roberts conducted the funeral.
