BALZER, William
Mr. Wm. Balzer, prominent farmer of the Shaws Bend community, passed out of this life last Thursday at the age of 73 years. Funeral was held at the residence Friday at 3:00 o'clock. Rev. H. C. Poehlmann of the Lutheran Church officating. Interment took place at the Brune Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Untermeyer Bros.
Mr. Balzer was born in Mechlinburg, Germany, on April 12, 1864. He was married to Miss Carolina Ahlgrim Nov. 2, 1889, and came to this country in 1896 and settled at Ellinger, where they lived for seven years before moving to the farm at Shaws Bend.
Mr. Balzer was a successful farmer and business man, highly respected in the County and section, and a devoted husband and father.
Survivors are the widow, 10 children: Fritz, Rudolph, Herman and Elo of Shaws Bend, Paul and William of Hallettsville, Charlie of Columbus, Mrs. Annie Horndt, Mrs. Elizabeth Kansteiner and Mrs. Ida Chollett of Shaws Bend, and ten grandchildren.
