Biography

John was born in Trinity County, Texas, United States in 1889, the son of James Henry "Jim" Bane and Samantha Jane Renfro Bane.[1][2]

John married Fannie Elizabeth (Swinney) Bane in Smith County, Texas in 1913.[3] The couple had at least nine children over the next twenty-three years. They lived in Trinity County, Texas for a short time before moving to Smith County, Texas for the rest of their lives.[4] Their first son, Percy Gilmer, was born in Trinity County.[5] John was a farmer. He retired in 1955.[6][7] He also had some issues with the law in 1955. On 16 Feb 1955, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals overruled an Appellant's Motion for Rehearing for "John Thomas Bane, Smith".[8] If he was imprisoned, he was out by Sep 1955 when he was fined $25 and court costs for driving while his driver's license was suspended.[9] Back in Sep 1952, he was indicted for Repetition Driving While Intoxicated by a Smith County Grand Jury.[10]

After retiring from farming, J. T. moved to Arp, Texas. In 1969, J. T. and Fannie lived at 112 Hollywood Street, Arp, Texas. He passed away in at Overton Memorial Hospital, Overton, Rusk County, Texas in 1969[6][11][12][13][6] and is buried in Williams Cemetery, New Chapel Hill, Smith County, Texas.[14]
