James was born May 18, 1861, in Rusk County, Tx, the son of James A. Bane and Eliza Jane Gage.[1]In 1870, James can be found living with his brother, Andrew and sister Georgia, in Panola County, Tx. [2][3] On November 18, 1881, James married Samantha Renfro, in Rusk County, Tx. [4] They would have eight known children; James Anderson "Jimmie" Bane, Oscar Bartis Bane, Charles "Charley" Bane, John Thomas Bane, Lela Jane Bane, Jessie Bane, Ross Culberson Bane, and Winnie Ethel Bane. [5][6][7] James died July 1, 1936 in Groveton, Trinity, Texas. [8] He is interred at Glenwood Cemetery.[9]
