Mary Barnes was born on 2 June 1639 at Salisbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the daughter of William Barnes and Rachel Unknown.[1]

Marriage

Mary married on 23 June 1659 at Salisbury, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay, to John Hoyt, Jr..[1]

Death and Legacy

On August 7, 1697, Mary Hoyt, relict widow of John Hoyt and eldest son William Hoyt, denounced right of administration of John's estate and petitioned the court to have Joseph Hoyt, 3rd son of John Hoyt be appointed, which was granted. [2]

28 September 1698, Mary Hoyt of Amesbury, relict of John Hoyt, Jr. ('or ye 2d of ye name in Almsbury') sells to her son-in-law John Whittier of Haverhill, carpenter, all that her great farm or lot given to her in the last will and testament of her father, William Barnes, lying in Amesbury, containing two hundred acres, being the twenty-fifth lot in that division commonly the division of the great lots, not to include or infringe upon a highway confirmed in said Barnes's will unto Thomas Wells, now minister of Amesbury, nor any other highway laid out by the lot-layers for the use of the town. Ack. same day.[3]

Mary is assumed to have died at the family home in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts Bay. However, no record of her death has been found.

David, I just went in and changed this information. Thank you. I do however wonder if another person could check on this profile? I have taken photos of grave stones to varify birht and deah dates and found mistakes from living relatives. <}}}>< Karen M aka Rantz-7
