Marie Zoé Bernier was born on April 9, 1864, baptized on the 10th in L'Islet (now L'Islet-sur-Mer, Quebec, Canada), daughter of Joseph Charles Bernier and Marie Zoé Morin, godparents Damase Bernier and Olympie Bernier[1]
Her family emigrated to Chippewa Falls WI before 1878, when she was accepted to the Sodality of Mary in Chippewa Falls. She married Nazaire Ira Lachance in Notre Dame Catholic Church there on March 26, 1883. They had seven children in 23 years. The moved to Frankfort South Dakota before 1900. She died there on May 13, 1935, at the age of 71, and was buried there.
