Hurried Plans for War Wedding War waits for no man and no woman. Miss Thelma Stewart, of Hamilton, and Driver Cyril John Bath, also of Hamilton, had planned to be married, probably in June, but with final leave hurried plans were made for the wedding. Arrangements have been made in a week, and the wedding took place yesterday at St. Philip's Church of England, Waratah. The bride is the youngest daughter of Mrs. S. J. Stewart, of Hamilton, and the late Mr. V. M. Stewart. The bridegroom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Bath, of Hamilton South. Rev. C. H. Nichols performed the ceremony. Miss Street played organ music, and Mrs. D. Stewart sang. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Mr. L. Stewart, wore a white lace gown designed with a softly flaring train and heart-shaped neckline. An embroidered tulle veil wad arranged over cut tulle and held in place with a halo of orange blossom. She carried a posy of frangipanni. Miss Francis Stewart attended her sister. She wore a dainty shot taffeta frock of mist blue made with a flared skirt and wasp fitting bodice, and a white hat. Her bouquet was in autumn tonings. Carmel Stewart, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Her pink cotton georgette frock was frilled on the skirt and pin tucked at the bodice. She wore a matching halo, and carried a basket of frangipanni. Mr. Norman Bath, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The reception was held at the Hamilton Mechanics' Institute, where Mrs. Stewart wearing a brown figured sheer frock and matching hat, received the guests. She added a posy of gladioli. Mrs. Bath chose a teal hat for contrast with her burgundy satin backed crepe trimmed with Italian quilting. The couple will spend a few days in Sydney before Driver Bath returns to camp. The bride's travelling frock was of navy satin romaine embroidered in white, and a white turban hat. Last night at the farewell arranged by the Hamilton Send-off and Welcome Home Committee, the bride and bridegroom were given a special welcome. A bridal presentation was made to them. |
