Biography

I have been researching my family tree on and off, as I get time, since 1996 - and would do it full time if I could.

When the software I was using stopped being supported, and I was deciding on new software, I stumbled across WikiTree. I am trying to add the information I have, and more as I go, to WikiTree, so it is not lost, and as a way of sharing with others.

I have NSW convict and non-convict ancestors, one Tasmanian convict ancestor, and Victorian and South Australian ancestors.

As I am adding information about those I am related to, I will also often add information for the relatives of people who have married into my family, particularly if I can see they are already on WikiTree, or I can see that by adding them, I am linking previously unlinked 'branches'.

So, some of the profiles I have entered or elected to be the 'profile manager' for, are not related to me. If you are related to one of these people and would like to take over managing their profile, you are most welcome to—please send me a message, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for cleaning up Robert Boykett, Kelli. I had two families confused, and I am still trying to straighten things out.

Hi Kelli,

It's nice to see you back on the 'Tree!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

 :)

Hi

Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.

Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As we always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.

Thank you for being a Wikitreer,

Guy Constantineau - Wikitree leader

This week we have your last stop on the guided tour. Hopefully, you're feeling like a WikiTree pro! If not, you can always revisit the tour stops via the comment boxes on the right side of your profile.

You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. Today, we want to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions!

Thanks, WikiMesssenger Cindy

PS Good work so far! Have you noticed on your ancestor profiles on the bottom right is "Research" where you can get sources and more information? Give it a try sometime!

Hi again,

You may have been hard at work getting connected to family members who are already here and adding those who were missing. You probably have at least a few profiles that you manage now.

There's a fast and easy way to access those profiles using the Watchlist. So, this week we're going to look at How to Manage Your Watchlist.

Please let one of us know if you have questions! Just click my name above the comment, then ask in the comment section of my page. We want to help!

Kelli --

You've been here for several weeks now! We hope your profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better.

You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer.

As always, your questions are welcome!

Shirley

Kelli--

Hi Kelli,

Thank you for the message!

If you have not clicked the link on How to Start Climbing Our Tree in the confirmation message it is a great way to learn your way around WikiTree and getting you started.

You mentioned the help pages and that is a great resource for finding answers to questions you might have.

Thank you for joining us on WikiTree. And I'm here to help too, just ask!

Hi Kelli,

Thanks for volunteering.

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree. Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: What is your most memorable genealogical discovery?

Welcome!

Welcome to WikiTree!

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

You'll get an email from us that has helpful links to get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any other genealogy site out there.

When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? Fill in the tags and comments on your profile to show what you're researching? and click the "Save Tag(s) and Volunteer" button, and one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!
