Hennery was baptised on 10 April 1767 in Saltash, Cornwall, the son of Henry Batten and Mary.[1]

Henry, a farmer, married Ann Roberts a spinster residing in Landulph, by licence on 6 April 1803 in Landulph, Cornwall, England.[2][3][4][5]

Henry Batten died at the age of 72 while residing in Earth and was buried on 4 May 1839 in the parish of St Stephens by Saltash, Cornwall.[6] [7]

Research Notes

Henry was identified in his Father's, Henry Batten, Will as Henry Batten, which he wrote on 19 February 1800. [8]

Henry was identified in his mother’s, Mary Batten's Will, as Henry Batten, which she wrote on 29 January 1822, as was his son Henry.[9] This confirms that he was still alive in 1822.

Henry also wrote his own Will on 15 July 1836 where he identified himself as a yeoman being of the Barton of Earth in the parish of St. Stephens by Saltash, Cornwall.[10] The Will helps to identify and confirm the following family relationships:

  1. Ann Batten, was his wife, (also an executrix)
  2. Mary Batten, his daughter
  3. Ann Batten, his daughter
  4. Henry Batten, his son, (also an executor)
  5. Thomas Batten, his son, (who was in a very weak state of health, so he probably never got married)
  6. James Batten, his son
  7. Edward Roberts Batten, his youngest son
  8. John Batten of Trematon, his brother residing in the parish of St Stephens was also a Yeoman and appointed one of the trustees
