Keziah Bays was born about 1793 in Pittsylvania county, Virginia. She was the daughter, and youngest child, of John Bays, Jr, and Vicey MNU Bays.[2]
This Indenture made this tenth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eleven between Vicey Bayes widow of John Bays decd. and Edmond Bingham and Lucy his wife, John Bays and Sally his wife, John Mills and Betsy his wife, Meshack Bays and Betsy his wife Joshua Bays ad Ruth his wife, Ebedingo Bays and Tabitha his wife, Josiah Bays and Letty his wife, Beverly Bays and Nancy his wife, William Martin and Polly his wife and Keziah Bays Lawful children and representatives of the said John Bays decd. of one part and William Whitlock of the county of Pittsylvania of the other part witnesseth that these named distributors of the estate of John Bays decd. hath granted bargained and sell and by these presents doth grant bargained and sell and alien release and confirm unto the said William Whitlock his heirs and assigns forever fifty acres of land part of the lands of which John Bays Decd. was living on and being in the County of Pittsylvania on upper side of Bird Creek beginning at Bays corner large dead pine thence along the old line south 35 degrees W 58 poles to a White Oak and branch and down the said branch as it meanders 104 Poles Byrd Creek afore said including the land that Edmond Bingham now uses on the said branch thence running down the said creek ----- ----- 45 Poles to ----- line and along it thence North 63 ½ degrees W 107 ½ Poles to its beginning to have and to hold the said land and premises with appurtenances onto the said William Whitlock to the only proper use and behoof of him the said William Whitlock his heirs and assigns forever and the said Vicey Bays, Edmond Bingham and all the other the other named distributors of this estate of said John Bays, deceased, for themselves, their heirs and executors and administrators doth oblige themselves by virtue of these presents to warrant and defend the right of the said land in fee simple clear of all cumbrance what so ever unto the said William Whitlock and to his heirs and assigns forever against themselves and their heirs and against all and every other person what so ever. In witness whereof all the before named distributors of the estate of the said John Bays decd., have hereon to set their hand and seals this day and year first written.
At a court held for Pittsylvania County, the 16th day of September 1811. The within written Indenture was presented in court acknowledged by the within and acknowledged by the within named to be their acts and deed assuridly examined according to law, freely and voluntarily relinquished their rights of dower in and to the land conveyed by the said indenture all which was ordered to be recorded as to them.
