Biography

Sarah (Beach) Jenkins was born in Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England.

Sarah was baptised around 1753 probably in Newland, Gloucestershire.

On 23 February 1773 George Jenkins and Sarah Beach married in Newland. ^[1]

The couple baptised a number of children in Bream;

Sarah, wife of George Jenkins died in 1835 and is buried in bream Churchard. ^[3]

On 3 May 1807 widow Sarah Jenkins married William Sulvin (probably Sullivan or Selwyn) in Newland. William hadn't been married before. ^[4]

Research Note

There were 2 baptisms of a Sarah Beach in Newland, Gloucestershire in 1753, one by parents Samuel and Eliz (abeth) and one by John and Elinor.

1753 BEACH Sarah Jno [John] Elinor Baptism Newland ^[5] she did baptised a daughter Elinor, perhaps that is a clue.

I am not convinced Sarah did remarry William 'Sulvin' this could be Selwyn, in which case Sarah was around in the 1841 census and wasn't born until around 1771. That Sarah Selwyn was also baptising children in 1814, when she would have been too old. There are no Sulvin's or Sullivans (this record is the only one in the parish registers that is 'Sulvin'
