Biography

Temperance Beal married Samuel Woodard / Woodward.

Temperance is the daughter of John Beale who died testate in Southampton County in 1769 and named her in his will ^[1]. Her mother is often shown as Patience Mayo; so far there is no confirmation.

Temperance is often called the daughter of John Beal (abt.1725-aft.1778) whose wife is Lydia (Johnston) Beal. She was his sister. The will of John the father in 1769, along with deeds in 1777 from John Beale (son) and Lydia his wife and Joshua Beale and Mary his wife establish the relationships.
