"I'm guessing that Richard Wright (and possibly his mother and some brothers and sisters) lived with his uncle, Benjamin Becraft (b. 1710), when Richard was a young man, maybe even as a child. In June 1738, "George Becraft undertakes for Hester Wright." George was Hester's brother. Richard's father, Philbert Wright, would seem to be dead by June 1738, therefore. Benjamin Becraft began buying land to farm in what would become Frederick County, Maryland, prior to 1739 and by 1744 had three small sons. Even if Richard's father was not dead by 1738, it was not uncommon for boys to join the families of their uncles, aunts, or grandparents or cousins if those families needed help with farm work." ______________________________ Richard Wright and Philbert Wright of Maryland & North Carolina.
