Biography
Elias Edward Belcher was born in Danville, Pittsylvania County, Virginia, the son of George W. Belcher and the grandson of Francis Belcher and his wife Charlotte Dunn Belcher. His father had three wives. More research is necessary to determine which of his father's wives was his mother, but it is possible he was from the first marriage of his father to Mary/Molly Pickard, which produced over a dozen children. Six other children are listed as children of his father's second marriage. The third marriage would be any children of Isabelle Unknown Belcher.
Elias Edward Belcher had many siblings. Here are the siblings from his father's second wife, Martha Ann Belcher, whose maiden name was Belcher. She was likely a cousin of some degree:

Elias Edward Belcher donated land and materials for the first Mount Vernon School in Saint Petersburg, Florida at 13th Avenue and 46th Street North. The school was nicknamed the "Belcher" school after Mr. Belcher. It only operated a few years. Later, another larger school named Mount Vernon was built at the same place, and a Belcher Elementary School was built in nearby Clearwater, Florida.
Elias Edward Belcher passed away in 1889 in western Hillsborough (now Pinellas) County, Florida and buried in Largo City Cemetery, Largo, Pinellas County, Florida. He left his wife Josephine Catherine McMullen Belcher a widow.

I am a great-great granddaughter of Elias and Josephine, my great grandfather was William Henry. Molly/Mary was the mother of Elias. He and Josephine had six children who lived to adulthood. Margaret, George Horton (went by Horton), Daniel Bascomb (Bascomb), Elias, William Henry (Henry) and Josephine Catherine (Cate). Cate was born after Elias died. My great granddaddy Henry was a cattleman, dairyman and grove owner. He was an undersheriff during prohibition and was a Pinellas County Commission from 1938-50. My great grandma Ruby and he had six children, I am the granddaughter of the oldest Henry Marvin (Marvin)
