On 12 Nov 1810, the town clerk of Livermore, Maine (then in Massachusetts), certified "that an intention of marriage between Mr. Samuel Morison of Readfield & Miss Betsey Benjamin of Livermore hath been entered with me fourteen days prior to the Date hearof [sic] and hath been published in Livermore as the Law Directs."[2] Their first child was born at Livermore on 24 Jul 1811.[3]
