It may be possible to confirm family relationships.
It is likely that these
autosomal DNA
test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elisha:
His last name is spelled Blacksher at least 6 times in a copy of the will located in Jones Co Will Book A, Page 325-326. The copy of his signature I was unable to tell. Bear in mind that the will transcribed in the will book is only a hand written copy of the original will.
I have a copy of his original will which I got at the North Carolina Archives in Raleigh. In the will I counted 5 instances where the last name is spelled Blackshear, 2 instances where his name is spelled Blacksher. I could not tell how he signed the last part of his will. The "seal" covered over the last part of the name.
Please refer to page 121-123 of "Blacksheariana," by Perry Lynnfield Blackshear, Sr. Refer to Elisha's Will dated December 11, 1808, in Jones County, North Carolina: "ELISHA S. BLACKSHER". His surname is referenced and printed as "BLACKSHER" at least 5 times, as well as his "SEAL". Page 117 states that his parents are: "Agnes and Alexander Blackshear". A Will is a legal document, and therefore, a person should be able to find his 1808 Will citation under the name "Elisha S. Blacksher", even if he was born with the surname "Blackshear".
I'll check to see if I can find an 1808 Will citation for him located in Jones County, North Carolina.
