François Blanchard migrated from France to Acadia.

François Blanchard is estimated to have been born before about 1699 (based on his having married in 1719).

François was the son of Jean Blanchard and Anne Boyer. A transcript from his 1719 marriage indicates that they were from the parish of Saint-Pierre of "Quimpercorantin, diocèse de Cornouilles." Quimper is the capital of the historic land of Cournouailles in Bretagne (today Finistère), and Saint Corentin is its patron saint for which its cathedral is named. In the early 1700s, Quimper was called "Quimpercorentin." ^{[1] [2] [3]}

After emigrating from France to Acadie, François married Anne Carne, daughter of Jacques Carne and Marie Arnauld on 7 Aug 1719 at Saint Charles des Mines, Acadie. ^{[1] [2] [4]}

In his marriage record, he is said "native of Quimpercorentin", but according to Denis Beauregrad ^[5], and what he declared in the 1752 Census of Île St-Jean, he would be native of Saint-Marc de Blanc. ^[6]
