Biography

Robert Blood was the father of two boys born in Dalbury, Derbyshire in the early 1600s. His year of birth is a rough estimate based on population studies of 16th and 17th century England showing that on average English men married for the first time at 27 years of age and produced their first child in the first year of marriage. Robert's origin and family are unknown.

Robert's two children so far identified are:

1. George Blood, baptised at Dalbury All Saints on 10 Jun 1604.^[1][2]
2. Edmund Blood, baptised at Dalbury All Saints on 9 Nov 1606.^[3][4]

No further records of Robert are known.

Research Notes

A Duffield Blood? This Robert Blood of the parish of Duffield had moved to the parish of Dalbury at some point before 1605. He was the son of Edmund Blood, Sr. and the brother of Edmund Blood, Jr. of Makeney in Duffield. It's possible that Robert Blood is this Robert Blood. This is reinforced by the fact he named a son Edmund, a name previously unrecorded in Dalbury.
