William Boam was born on 3 October 1760 in Bakewell, Derbyshire, England, son of James Boam (1742–1799) and Joannah Allen (1739–1803).

William (24) married Mary Alsop (12) (born in 1771) on 15 November 1784 in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, England. Their known son was Thomas Boam (3 September 1802 – 31 May 1888).

William died on 13 December 1822 in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, aged 62.
