Biography

1776 Project
Thomas Boarman Sr performed Patriotic Service in Maryland in the American Revolution.

Thomas James Boreman, Sr. was born about 1705, in Charles County, Maryland. During the American Revolutionary War, Thomas signed the Oath of Fidelity for the Continental cause [1] For his patriotic service, Thomas is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as Ancestor #A132759 [2]. (His records are under the spelling of his surname as "Boreman)." According to DAR records, his wife's name is Jane Edelen and he died in Charles County, Maryland, prior to June 15, 1785. Application for membership in the Society has been made by the descendants of his daughter, Mary Boreman, who married Charles Boone.[3]

His first wife was Jane, daughter of Richard Edelen of Lanterman, Gent. She predeceased her father. When her father Richard died in 1760, he devised 180 acres of "Boarman's Manor" to an unnamed granddaughter, the wife of Charles Boone and the daughter of Thomas James Boreman.[4]

It is also stated that he married secondly to Jane Neale. The only Jane Neale that would fit into this scenario is the daughter of James and Jane (Boarman) Neale, who was unmarried at the death of her father in 1731.[5]
