William Bobbitt was born in 1702 in Bedford County, Colony of Virginia.
William married Lucy Leftwich (born about 1 January 1730 in King William, VIrginia). Their known children were:

- Matilda Bobbitt (~1757– )
- Elizabeth Bobbitt (~1760– )
- Randolph Bobbitt (1769–1819)
- William Bobbitt (~1769–~1818)

William died in 1771 in Bedford, Virginia Colony, aged 68.
