Biography

Sara Patton notes:
Grizena (aka Christina or Chrissiana) Bogard appears to have been the youngest daughter of Gaisbert Bogard and Catrina Deckker/Decker. She was baptized 19 May 1736 in Kingston, Ulster Co, NY. She moved with her family to the South Branch of the Potomac in what was then Augusta Co, Virginia but later became Hampshire Co, WV. She is mentioned in her father's will as"Grizina See" and in her husband's (George See) will as "my wife Chrisiana." [Grizena being the German or Dutch spelling of Christina."

She appears to have married George See (of German descent) ca 1753 after his family moved to the South Branch Valley from Pennsylvania. (No documentation has yet been found.) The couple lived on the South Fork River, just south of Moorefield, WV. They had at least seven children, all named in George's will. George was a very successful farmer and stock man, with several valuable horses, cattle and other livestock. The family also had 9 slaves, more than most settlers in the area at the time. After his death, several of his neighbors were appointed to appraise his property, which they valued at over $7500, making him one of the wealthiest men in the neighborhood. Ironically, when the appraisers and the executors (her son and son-in-law) went to the See home to value the household property, they were unable to do so "because the widow of the decsd refused to let the Executors & the Valuers to come into their house."

Bogard-24 and Bogard-18 appear to represent the same person because: This is the oldest maternal ancestor in this chain in need of a merge. No tree conflicts. I saved data to bios. Thanks!

This Christina Bogart-55 was imported or attached along the way to the wrong parents, Gysbert T. Bogaert born 1668 and Jannetje Simonse Van Arsdalen born 1670.

So I am going to detach both of those from the wrong generation and wrong family, and attach the correct mother, Catherine Decker.

This Christina Borgart-64 seems to have gotten imported or attached along the way to the wrong father, Gysbert Tunisen Bogaert born 1668. So I am going to detach him.
