Biography

Mary Bond was born on December 16, 1657 in Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^[1]

On 16 November 1679,^[2] Mary married Samuel Hibbard, son of Robert Hibbard, in Beverly. Samuel was a mason and farmer. Samuel and Mary lived on the homestead of Robert Hibbard in Beverly that Samuel had inherited from his father.

Their children, all born in Beverly ^[3] were:

1. Samuel, b. March 10, 1680/1, died young.

2. Abigail, b. Feb. 24, 1682/3, m. Daniel Eaton, Jr.

3. Mary, m. Stephen Danforth.

4. Joanna (or Hannah)

5. Deborah, b. July 18, 1687, m Ebenezer Russell.

6. Jonathan, b. May 24, 1689.

At the time of Samuel’s death, “letters of administration were granted to…Mary, May 18, 1702, and on Nov. 2 of the same year she rendered an account of administration. The widow received a third of the estate and the remainder was divided ‘as followeth: To Jonathan, the only son a double part thereof and to Abigail, Deborah, Mary and Johanah each a single share. The time of the death of the widow is not known. She is supposed to have gone to Conn. With her son.’” ^[4]
