Biography

Thomas Boone was born in the Province of Carolina, the son of John Boone and Elizabeth Patey. He inherited Boone Hall Plantation in Christ Church Parish from his father, and he acquired additional land in Berkeley and Craven counties. He was a captain in the militia and a justice of the peace for Berkeley County.^[1][2]

On 24 October 1717 he married Mary Capers, daughter of William and Mary Capers and widow of John Simes.^[3] They had children:

• William (b. 12 Apr 1728) ^[4]
• Patey (b. 16 June 1730, ^[4] d. 7 July 1739^[7])
• Capers (b. 23 Aug 1733) ^[4]
• John (b. 9 Oct 1734) ^[4]

Thomas wrote his Will on 1 November 1749, in which he mentions his wife Mary, sons Thomas, Capers, William, and John, daughter Susannah Durand, grandsons Thomas Boone and Levi Durand, and brother [in-law] Richard Capers.^[8]

He died 2 November 1749 and was buried at his plantation.^[9]
