Biography

Marcia Churchill, born September 1st 1938, was the thirteenth dove to Berry E. and Nina M. Boston. A lively young woman, she grew up in the railroad town of Roseville California, with two older brothers, Berry and Ernest. She began in a nursing program at Chico State University, when she met the handsome young Jerry Churchill, whom she married two years later on August 24, 1958. Marcia and Jerry lived their first two years together in San Francisco California, at which time they moved to their life long home of Yreka, California. Happily their children soon followed, Julie, Belinda and Tres Churchill. Marcia was a longtime volunteer, not only for Siskiyou General Hospital Inc. but also for Fairchild Medical Center board, FMC foundation board and surgery liaison. She brought cheer and enthusiasm to Share the Magic each December. She served on the State Auxiliary board for many years. Other volunteer activities covered St. Mark’s Episcopal Church teaching Sunday school, altar guild and as a challis bearer. Recently she helped pass the very useful Measure H funding for Yreka Volunteer Fire Department. She loved to spend time at her second home in Lake Tahoe, California, where she had been a summer resident her entire life. She loved the summer season in Tahoe City, partaking in local activities such as fishing, boating, skiing, pickleball, and socializing with relatives and old friends from childhood. Marcia and Jerry were passionate about travel and went cross country in their motorhome multiple times finally landing in Surprise, Arizona as snowbirds. Marcia was most passionate about the arrival of her nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. They were the loves of her life. From her first to her last, her enthusiasm never waned. She adamantly remembered them at all holidays. Her attendance at sporting events, graduations, horse and pig shows, dance recitals, and birthdays was without question. Charissa, Micah, Stefan, Hannah, Travis, Jonah, Alexis, Chase, Faith Anne, Jaxon and Judah were her pride and joy. The adventure of being married for fifty-eight years led Jerry and Marcia through many happy ski trips to Bend, OR and Sun Valley, ID and Europe were highlights. Marcia was a bright star in everyone’s life. She never met a stranger that wasn’t a friend. When asked how much she was owed for her generosities she’d say, “A dollar, six-eighty and a can of peaches,” with a glint in her eye. Marcia returned to her Maker peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, March 7, 2017. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Churchill, daughters Julie and Belinda, son Tres and their families, also, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the L.D.S. Church on Miner St. in Yreka. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
