Claire migrated with her parents and siblings from Saint-Donat, Rimouski, to Sudbury Ontario, arriving on a freight train in 1884. She was sent back to Quebec to be educated at the convent school of the Soeurs de l'Assomption in Nicolet.
She married Ferdinand Proulx, from St-Anaclet, Rimouski, on May 7, 1900, in Sudbury. He had arrived in the area in 1872 at the age of 20.
Their children: Ulric in Rouyn, Joseph in Montreal (1944), Roland who died in 1931 age 24, Marie, d. age 2, Gilberte, Yvette and Alma living in Sudbury. The two oldest sons studied at the Collège du Sacré-Coeur in Sudbury.
