James was born in Hilliard, Nassau, Florida on 22 Feb 1852.[1] He was 8 and living with his family in Nassau County, Florida. [2] By 1870, he was 18, but he still lived at home. [3] On 20 Dec 1877, he married Alice Ponce. It appears to be his second marriage. [4] (See Note) In 1910, he was 57. He was married to Alice E. (Ponce) Braddock and several children are listed. The oldest was 17. They were living in Sampson, St Johns, Florida. [5] According to the entry at FindAGrave, "In 1910, [Alex] married Indialie (Allie) Carter born: 14 Jan 1886 in Waycross, Georgia; died: 15 Feb 1975 in Duval County, Florida."[1] He seems to have stayed with Allie.[6][7] Alex died in August 1930 in the town where he was born and was buried in the family cemetery.[1][8]
Note
At some point, FAG suggests that he married Marietta (Unknown) Braddock, who died at 33 years of age.[9]Research is needed to confirm or refute this suggestion.
