Jean Baptiste Brandt Sr. is a descendant of an Acadian
Jean Baptiste Brandt, son of Etienne Brandt and Francoise Richard, was born in the year before the Louisiana Purchase, about 10 November 1802; he was legitimized and baptized in 1803.[1]
Jean Baptiste Brandt and Emerante Andrepont were minors when they married on 20 August 1821 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[1]
Caroline died c.1853.[1]
In 1858 he married a third time, to Marguerite Fontenot in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[5][1]
In 1860 he was counted on the U.S. Census in St Landry Parish, Louisiana, near Opelousas and Grand Coteau, with his third wife, Marguerite Fontenot, and living with three sons, one with his own young family.[6]
He was counted again on the 1870 U.S. Census in Ward 5 of St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, with his apparent third wife, Marguerite, and a son and his family.[7]
He died in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana in 1876.[1]
