After Emerante's death in 1831, he married Caroline DeVille on 28 May 1833 in Opelousas, Louisiana.[1]

Caroline died c.1853.[1] In 1858 he married a third time, to Marguerite Fontenot in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.[5][1]

In 1860 he was counted on the U.S. Census in St Landry Parish, Louisiana, near Opelousas and Grand Coteau, with his third wife, Marguerite Fontenot, and living with three sons, one with his own young family.[6] He was counted again on the 1870 U.S. Census in Ward 5 of St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, with his apparent third wife, Marguerite, and a son and his family.[7]

He died in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana in 1876.[1]
