Note: I found Soloman and Catherine on the 1850 US Federal Census living in Iowa; Soloman was b. in IN and Catherine in Virginia. From the census it looked as though all the children had been born in Iowa, the youngest, Sarah born abt 1848. I believe that the family moved to Indiana shortly after that census was taken as the oldest son was married in Henry County, IN in 1853. Soloman served in the Civil War in Indiana.
He was buried in Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Henry County, Indiana.
His Find-A-Grave site[9] says he was born in 1812, and died Feb 19,1892. That is also what's on the paperwork for his military headstone. This is also where the information about his children Isaac and Christena comes from, as well as his wife Catharine Miller Brattain
The Brattain Book[10] gives his birth as 1811.
