In 1572, Edmond Verney told the visiting Herald that he was the son of Sir Ralph Verney, knt., of Penley, by Elizabeth, sister and coheir of John, Lord Bray; and that Sir Ralph Verney was the son of another Sir Ralph Verney, by his first wife Margaret, daughter and co-heir of Inwardby of Quinton Mallet, co. Bucks.[1]
Elizabeth Bray was the 3rd wife of Sir Richard Catesby.
Elizabeth Bray's maternal grandmother Anne Norbury (see details on her profile) is descended from Magna Carta surety barons Saher de Quincy, Robert de Vere, Henry de Bohun, Hugh le Bigod and his father Roger le Bigod. Anne Norbury also appears to be descended from Geoffrey de Say and Richard de Clare.
