Biography

This John Breed, born 15 Mar 1782 @ Stonington, Connecticut, was the second child of Grace (Green) Breed (1761-1830) & Oliver Breed (1757-1834).

He married 11 Apr 1805, @ Halifax, Vermont, Catherine Fish (Marriage recorded 14 Apr 1805 in Montpelier State House Record Book by Jesse Edson, Minister [1]). They had 11 children during the timespan through May 1831, one of whom died in infancy:

  • Catherine Breed (8 Mar 1816 - 13 Oct 1816)

This family migrated to Pennsylvania in 1834 or 1844, probably at first in Wayne Township, Schuylkill County, but after a year's residence there, removed to Union County, then Crawford County. They, pioneers of the wilderness, entered 100 acres of land in Crawford County, where they passed the remainder of their lives.

Rev. John Breed was a Methodist minister.

Rev. John Breed died Mar. 20, 1853, and was buried in Lawn Cemetery of Beaverdam, Beaver Dam, Erie County, Pennsylvania, USA [2].

His widow d. Aug. 22, 1878 in 93rd year.

Notes

Catherine had brother Rev. Samuel Fish, D.D. who was a Baptist minister 50 years in Halifax, Vt. He d. age 94 years, 3 mo. 12 days.
