Joseph Broadhurst was born about 1770, in Cocke County, Tennessee. He was the child of John Broadhurst (1740–1842) and Martha Barker (1745–1819). He married Sarah" Sally" Faubion on October 1, 1788, in Fauquier County, Virginia. He passed away on March 14, 1808, in Newport, Cocke County, Tennessee, at the age of 40.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12]
William Armstrong Crozier, Early Virginia Marriages, page 22, shows them married on October 7, 1788. This may have been a mistake in reading or typing or it may have been the actual date of marriage, the Bond being secured on an earlier date - October 1, 1788. The Virginia State Library does not find record of such a date in their Archives.
J. Estelle Stewart King, Abstracts of Wills, Administrations, and Marriages of Fauquier County, Virginia, 1759 - 1800 (1939), page 81, shows William Broadhurst and Franky Harrill married on August 14, 1787. William was probably a brother of Joseph, but the children we have listed are believed to have belonged to Joseph and Sally.
