Biography

John Nicholas Brocke was born on December 31, 1853 in Michigan, United States, son of John Peter Brocke (1826–1891) and Christine Jane Webber (1831–1914).

In 1870, Nicholas (16) was living in Brooke, Cedar with his parents, John (44) and Christina (38); his brother, Charley (10); and Kathrena Brocke (17), J Nicholas Brocke (15), and Frank J Brocke (13). ^[1]

Nicholas (23) married Anna Grieser (17) (born on November 17, 1859 in Saint Louis, St. Louis City, Missouri, USA; daughter of Ignatius Grieser and Catharina (Gute) Henry) on April 24, 1877 in Cedar.^[2] Their children were:

In the 1900 census Nicholas (age 45) was the married head of household in Kendrick, Latah, Idaho, United States.^[4]

In the 1910 census Niokales Brocke (age 55) was living with his wife Annie (52), and son Niokales (15), in Kendrick, Latah, Idaho, United States.^[5]

In the 1920 census Nickolas (age 65) was living with his wife Annie (age 60), in Kendrick, Latah, Idaho, United States.^[6]

In the 1930 census Nicholas (age 76) was living with his wife Anna (age 71), in Kendrick, Latah, Idaho, United States.^[7]

Nicholas's wife Anna Brocke died on 19 March 1936 in Kendrick, Latah, Idaho, United States.^[8]

Nicholas died on December 14, 1938 in Lewiston, Nez Perce, Idaho, United States, aged 84. He was buried in American Ridge Cemetery, Juliaetta, Latah County, Idaho.^[9]

• changed birth year from 1853 to 1854 to avoid conflict with sister. Census birth dates are 1854 and 1855. Find a grave profile as birth month and day as (July 24,1854) which does not match this profile.
• find a grave profile has photos and extensive biography.
• problem with birth dates of older sister Catharina and sibling John Nicholas on find a grave. Catharina = 4 Jan 1854 (date on gravestone), and J Nicholas = 24 Jul 1854 (gravestone = 1854). 1870 census suggests a two year difference in age. More research needed.
