James Brodie was born about 1888 in Bushfield, Victoria, Australia, son of Margaret Jane (Wilson) Brodie and William Brodie.^{[citation needed]}

He married Jane Elizabeth Trigg in 1916 in Victoria.^[1]

James died on 24 March 1939 in Woodford, Victoria, aged 51 years.^[2] His remains were buried at Warrnambool Cemetery in Warrnambool, Victoria.^{[citation needed]}
