Charlotte Mary Anne Scott was born on 13th October 1824 at Barren Ridges, New South Wales, Australia (Epping) to John Scott and Martha Brooks.[1] John had been boatswain on the convict transport Mary Anne in 1822 and Martha one of the convicts being transported. Her parents married in 1822 in Sydney. When her father died in 1828, her mother re-married, to ex-convict Henry Pollard, and Charlotte became big half-sister to seven siblings.
On 20th April 1840 in St Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Parramatta, Charlotte married John Francis Duffy, a son of Irish immigrants, Patrick Duffy and Bridget Conlan.[2] Together, Charlotte and John raised a large family of 16 children in the Pennant Hills - Thornleigh district of northern Sydney.
Charlotte died at The Valley, Hornsby, New South Wales, on 9th January 1908 and is buried in Gore Hill Cemetery, North Sydney.[3]
