Biography

Frances is the daughter of Joseph B. E. Brown and Martha Shorter Harper. She married an unknown Whaley some time before February 1927. She and her sister, Bessie, were living in the household of Mark G. and Bessie H. McDonald in the 1910 Census, listed as adopted daughters.

She was a music student and became a music teacher, traveling around the United States and abroad. She returned to the United States from Genoa, Italy, on February 22, 1927, on board the "Conte Rosso". Her home address was listed in New York, New York. Another trip had her arriving in New York from Le Havre (France) on October 4, 1930, on board the "Lancastria". Her home address on this trip was listed as Rome, Georgia. On both trips, she was listed as married. She was staying with her sister Bessie and her husband in the 1930 Census, listed as married. Frances was buried August 9, 1963 at Myrtle Hill Cemetery, Rome, Floyd County, Georgia.

• In searching records from any number of states, her husband's given name or any information other than surname has not been found. Have been unable to locate any marriage records.
• According to Anne Willingham Willis (cited below as a source) her first husband was Hugh Miller and her second husband was George H Whaley. However, without accessing more details, one probably should hesitate to give either husband a wikitree page of his own.
