Hannah Browne was born on May 2, 1658 in Milford, New Haven, Connecticut, daughter of John Brown (~1620–~1690) and Mary Burwell (1623–~1689).^[1]

Hannah (17) married Joseph Riggs (31) (born about 1644 in Milford, Connecticut Colony; son of Edward Riggs II and Elizabeth (Unknown) Carwithie) in 1676 in Newark, Essex. Their children were:

• Elizabeth Riggs (~1681–~1747)
• Samuel Riggs (~1683–~1710)

Hannah (31) married Aaron Thompson (44) (born about 1645 in Long Island, New York Colony; son of Thomas Thompson and Mary Jane (Waldrop) Thompson) in 1690 in Elizabeth Township, Essex. Their daughter was Mary Thompson (~1679–~1747).

Hannah died about 1700 in Elizabeth, Essex, New Jersey, aged about 41. She is commemorated at First Presbyterian Churchyard Memorial Garden, Newark, Essex County, New Jersey.^[2] She is listed in husband's Will - 1694-5, Feb. 4. Thompson, Aaron, of Elizabeth Town; will of. Wife, Hannah. Sons—Thomas, Joseph, Aaron. Daughter, Hannah. Sister, Mary Hinds. Real and personal estate. Executors—Rev. John Harriman and Nathaniel Tuttle. Witnesses—William Miller, Steven Crane. Proved October 2, 1695. (For inventory, see X. J. Archives, Vol. XXIII, p. 458). 1696, Apr. 29. Administration granted to the widow, Hannah Thompson and John Haynes, one of the executors having died and the other refusing to act.^[3]

Research Notes

• Hannah (Browne) Riggs was first married to Joseph Riggs and then married to Aaron Thompson. The two children between Hannah and Joseph Riggs that are listed on here were born in 1681 and 1683. There are still a few other Riggs children that need to be added. Joseph Riggs passed away in 1689.
• So if there were children between Aaron Thompson and Hannah (Browne) Riggs, They would have been born after 1689. She then passed away in 1692 and depending on where you look, it shows she has 4-5 children with Aaron Thompson but would have had 3 years maximum to do so. ^[2]
