Biography

Ruth Brownson was born on 25 Dec 1710 in New Milford Twp, Litchfield, Connecticut, Father's name "Rogger" Brownson^[1].

LNAB controversy: Many trees on other websites show her LNAB as Bronson but both birth and marriage records list her name as Brownson. Father and siblings LNAB is also Brownson.

Roger Brownson was town clerk of New Milford from Nov 1, 1733 (taking over from his brother Samuel, who died the last week of October, 1733) to Dec 12, 1748.

Roger Brownson, Ruth’s father, remained the New Milford town clerk for almost 10 more years after the birth and death of Noah — no additional children were recorded from this marriage.

On 10 Apr 1752 in New Milford, Ruth Huff (probable widow of Benjamin) married (2) Ezra Terrill^[4] son of Rodger and Sarah____.

Children:

1. Mary Huff b. 24 Jun 1748 New Milford, Connecticut^[5][6], d. 30 Jan 1824 at age 75^[7]

Notes:

• Benjamin purchased land in Cornwall in 1739 or 1740 from the owner of an original allotment in that new town. Benjamin was on the Cornwall tax list in 1742, but in 1744 he was “gone,” and the lot was sold by Z. (Zephaniah, his brother) Hough shortly afterwards. Benjamin probably died between 1742 and 1744, certainly before 1748. A Ruth Huff had a child, Mary, on June 24, 1748, recorded in New Milford, but had no husband at the time. There was no Ruth Huff/Hough around New Milford except the wife of Benjamin, evidently then a widow. Ruth Huff later married Ezra Terrill in New Milford on April 10, 1752. She didn’t live much longer, as Ezra Terrill again married on August 31 of that same year to Judith Hamelton. To set things straight, Ezra made an affidavit on December 25 of that same year that Ruth Huff’s daughter Mary (then 4 years old) was his child and heir to his estate.
