Biography

Mary was born in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1891. She was the daughter of John Bruce and Jane Young. She was baptised at St Michaels, Byker on 16th September 1891. Her father was a driller and they lived at 106, Grafton Street, Byker.

In 1901 she lived with her parents , and 5 siblings at 106, Dunns Terrace, Byker. Her father was described as a machine boiler driller. They also had a boarder, Charles Hunter, aged 18 a general labourer from Hebburn.

In 1911, she was still living with her family at 106, Duns Terrace, she was a laundry worker.

She married Thomas Graham, a plumber, on 3rd August 1913, at St Silas Byker.

In 1939, she was living at 106, Dunns Terrace with her mother, and 2 brothers. She was described as a charwoman.

She passed away on 30th June 1971 her husband had died previouuly. She lived in 50, West Farm Avenure, Longbenton, Newcastle at this time.
