Ernest was born in 1811. He was the son of Charles Brudenell-Bruce and Henrietta Hill. He died in 1886.

Sir Ernest Augustus Charles Brudenell-Bruce , 3rd Marquess of Ailesbury was born at Warren's Hotel, St. James's Square, London, England. He was the son of Charles Brudenell-Bruce, 1st Marquess of Ailesbury and Henrietta Maria Hill. He married Hon. Louisa Elizabeth Horsley-Beresford, daughter of John Horsley-Beresford, 2nd Baron Decies and Charlotte Philadelphia Horsley, on 25 November 1834 at St. George's Church, St. George Street, Hanover Square, London, England.

He was buried at Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire, England.^[1]
