Born at Canterbury House, Muskegon, Michigan. Dropped out of school in the 9th grade to work for the Pere Marquette Railroad. Was a cam grinder by profession. During World War I he served as a baker on a Navy minesweeper. Attended Ferris Institute (Ferris State University) 1925-26. Was employed by Continental Motors and then Motor Specialties Company (2nd shift - Tool & Die) in Muskegon. Also worked for a short time at Piston Ring in Sparta, Michigan. Lived in the rural areas, with enough farmland for livestock and crops to sell locally.
Built a house on one acre of land (Hall Road) deeded to him by his parents Daniel and Gine on May 20, 1929 (Muskegon County Deed 289-144). Moved the house to Dangl Road and added 3 rooms in 1937. Used this house as down payment for a farm of 80 acres in Bailey, Michigan. (Price: $8,000. Had 11 cows. Grew wheat, hay and corn. Sold farm for $80,000 and retired to Wolf Lake, MI.
Owned a 1935 Chevy truck and a 1937 Chevy automobile. Owned a Studebaker in the mid 1960s.
Was a student at Ferris Institute (Ferris State University) in 1925 studying Civil Service.
In 1942, worked for the Muskegon Motor Specialties Company. Had no telephone at home.
Occassional smoker, had ulcers. Died of stomach cancer.
Preferred to wear bib overalls.
Had a boxing punching bag in his basement to work out with.
Enjoyed fishing at (local) Wolf Lake.
